Western Development Commission launches first industry focused Image Bank

We are delighted that the Western Development Commission have chosen Sligo as the initial pilot to launch a brand-new online platform which will host high quality free to use images to promote living, working and investing in the west of Ireland. Sligo County Council was a partner on the project supported by the Atlantic Economic Corridor officer.

The image bank is the latest element of the ‘More To Life’ campaign which was created to showcase the opportunities for highly skilled career choices in the west of Ireland. The images which were captured before lockdown were taken by well renowned Sligo photographer Suzy McCanny and include shots of BPO Abtran, Podiatrists Firefly, leading manufacturer Ward Automation, home of Athrú whiskey Lough Gill Distillery, US technology company Overstock, employee engagement start-up Frankli, US Software company LiveTiles and others.

CEO of the Western Development Commission Tomás Ó Síocháin welcomed the launch and said; “The image bank is an integral part of our More to Life campaign. These high-quality images, which are free to use,  will support the Sligo community, our key stakeholders and our diaspora to showcase the wide ranging roles available across tech, pharma, retail, customer service and more so that together, we can help Sligo to recover in 2021.”

While similar content libraries exist, there are none that are specific to industry in Ireland and Head of Communications, Allan Mulrooney says they expect to see a large demand on downloads and use of the platform; “Placemaking continues to play a hugely influential role in the west of Ireland’s economic success. Our More To Life campaign showcases a limitless potential to develop a career across a range of specialist areas in Sligo. The image bank is another visual representation of the benefits of living, working and investing in the West and it will allow us to continue to position Sligo as a regional centre of growth.”

Elaine Murphy, Senior Vice President, EMEA Operations at LiveTiles. explains the benefits of the image bank; “This is a fantastic resource that will empower businesses and organizations to better tell the story of the West of Ireland which, in many ways, is a visual narrative with the power to seduce, inspire and embrace the need for balance in the modern world.”
