Immerse yourself in the vibrant celebration of Tubbercurry’s rich heritage and community spirit. The Tubbercurry Old Fair Day Festival returns for its 37th year with a packed programme of events. This August, the festival committee has joined with local community groups to create thrilling family entertainment, live music to engaging dance and craft demonstrations, this five-day festival promises fun and excitement for the whole family. So, mark your calendar and create memories this August from Saturday 10th to the highlight of the festival the Old Fair Day on Wednesday 14th.

Tony O’Brien returns for his third year bringing his and the committees experience to the fore in fine tuning an exciting five-day programme, a highlight in Sligo’s festival calendar.  “We are delighted to present our 37th Festival. Our committee has worked tirelessly in continuing to bring a festival to Tubbercurry with firm favourites and adding in new and exciting events.

This year collaboration is key, we have continued to engage with local community groups Tubbercurry GAA, Real Tubber, Achonry Farmers Market, Tubbercurry Golf Club, Havin A Laugh charity and local businesses who are kindly supporting events, we are also delighted to be joined by South Sligo Summer School and Bróga Bríomhar Dance School for our dance programme in St. Brigid’s Hall on the fair day.”

Renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and commitment to preserving Ireland’s rich heritage and crafts, the festival has become a must-attend event. Offering an array of entertainment, immersive experiences, and family-friendly activities, the Tubbercurry Old Fair Day Festival guarantees something for everyone.

The festival commences this year in the Forest Trail with Tubbercurry Trail Run on Saturday morning followed by the Teddy Bear Picnic in the afternoon or take a spin out to the Achonry Farmers Market for delicious treats, heritage, and crafts at their market.

The kids will be entertained with a Family Fun events at both Kilcoyne Park and Family Resource Centre and the Padraig Neary Memorial Treasure Hunt while the adults get to test their skills at Headers Cup and their knowledge of vintage cars at Square Sundays.

On the Fair Day, visitors will get the chance to experience the sights and sounds of fair days gone by in our crafts and heritage village, artisan food and ice cream, enjoy children’s fun zones and watch live demonstrations from spinning, weaving, basket making, chainsaw craving, traditional printing to thatching and trashing. You can even try your hand at butter making and pottery. Havin’ A Laugh charity will host their Coffee Morning on Tour in the hall with dance classes commences from 11a.m.

Ocean FM will be live with their flagship show from an outside broadcast on the square. The ever-popular vintage collection of tractors, cars and machinery grows every year and will take pride of place. Surprises await in their award-winning animal’s display. The event will host over a hundred exhibitors dotted throughout the town. A fun filled festival awaits you in Tubbercurry, with Murray’s funfair and music in the pubs nightly to finish off the evening. A festival where old and new friends alike can meet and savour the hospitality Tubbercurry offers.
