About Sligo.ie

The website sligo.ie has been developed with the aim of providing targeted on-line information on services and events in Sligo. The site has been designed for easy navigation, allowing people to access the required service area straight away. The design and layout reflect the likely areas of interest of people visiting the site, with information presented in the areas of business and enterprise, tourism and lifestyle, education and training, public services and community. The site will also link to an ‘events’ diary and will contain an index of local services.

Background

In June 2009 the Sligo County Development Board (CDB) established a working group to develop a public relations proposal. One of the objectives identified for this proposal was the creation of a new website, and the working group has overseen the development and launch of Sligo.ie

Branding: The image of the shell is common to the coat of arms of Sligo Borough Council and Sligo County Council, its origin being in the derivation of Sligo’s name from sligeach or Shelly River. The image is readily associated with Sligo and will be used in the promotion of the sligo.ie. website and brand.
